The classic event surely includes the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition, considered to be a prestigious competition not only in Poland but also around the world.
March is a month when we celebrate the coming of spring. Each year the Zamek Cultural Centre invites artists who make an attempt to interpret Igor Stravinsky’s famous “The Rite of Spring”.
Imprezy Warte Poznania (Events Worth Poznań), held throughout the month of May, are an excellent opportunity to watch the most interesting phenomena and artistic activities as well as achievements of Poznań artists. The event is also accompanied by the Night at the Museums, which offers the only opportunity to visit Poznań museums at night.
Whoever visits Poznań in June during the Jarmark Świętojański (St. John’s Fair) will surely not leave empty-handed. A symphony of colours and scents surrounds the Old Market Square, where peddlers set up their booths just like in the old days. The market is filled with antiques, antiquities and peculiar objects, among which everyone will find their rare bird.
Everyone must have heard about the MALTA International Theatre Festival. During the festival Poznań turns into one huge theatre stage, hosting performers from all over the world.
For the last 7 years in August the Polish Dance Theatre has been hosting the Contemporary Dance Biennale, which attracts performers from all over Poland and from abroad. The Biennale lasts 8 days. The participants can choose from among 48 dance technique classes that are led by first-class dancers from around the world.
